Poll results
In our most recent LinkedIn poll, we asked supply chain professionals how they would describe their organisation’s priorities in relation to reducing CO2 emissions. We wanted to learn how they are thinking about reducing their current output of carbon dioxide (CO2) in line with pressing climate change prevention targets. This forms part of a series of polls designed to better understand how companies have been making changes to their supply chain and the everyday operations of their business, particularly in relation to moving their trading processes further towards automation and the use of digital, paperless solutions.
We asked our LinkedIn audience to describe their organisation’s strategy in relation to reducing CO2 emissions. Voters could choose from four options: already carbon neutral, actively reducing CO2 emissions, planning to reduce emissions, and not reducing emissions.
Reducing CO2 emissions: what we found
- Unfortunately, 0% of the poll’s respondents said that their business was already carbon neutral.
- However, the largest number, 75%, voted that they were actively reducing CO2 emissions.
- The second largest section, 25%, said that they were in the process of planning to reduce emissions.
- Finally, we were happy to see that 0% of respondents voted to say that they were not reducing emissions.
The UK Government has made ambitious plans for reducing CO2 emissions. The objective is for the country to be carbon neutral by 2050. However, according to a survey conducted by YouGov, only 46% of businesses in the UK have made plans to make their operations carbon neutral before 2050. In addition, a worrying 31% say they have no plans at all.
There are, however, a small percentage of businesses that have already gone carbon neutral. These carbon-neutral companies like Sky, Microsoft, Logitech, Marks & Spencer, Google, and Quorn could prove extremely influential in their respective fields by leading the way on sustainability.
