Organisations begin stockpiling to ensure stock for peak trading holidays

Over the past two years, the pandemic caused supply chain disruption, with unpredictable deliveries, labour shortages and lockdowns. With peak holiday season approaching, organisations have taken to the option of stockpiling to ensure they’re not let down by unpredictable supply chains and continued logistic strikes.

Supply chain worries for the chemical sector

The latest business survey from the Chemistry Industry Association (CIA) showed that organisations within the sector are struggling with persistent supply chain issues delaying orders, with inflation eating into margins and consumer prices. Consequently, to help supply chain disruption the industry is working with the government over future plans to ease the burden, with a six month support package due to be published in Jan 23.

To resolve current bottlenecks within the supply chain process, the organisation Mercedes-Benz partnered with Microsoft on production systems to help retrieve data to give transparency across every factory showing inventory management and supply chain oversight to maximise production.

It is expected that supply chain pressures were partly the cause of rising inflationary pressures in the U.S. Since the New York Fed reports on easing of supply chain pressures back to pre-pandemic levels there is hope that it will lead the way for inflation relief.
